NAET, JMT

About

Dr. Linda Palter practices low impact chiropractic adjusting for the treatment of back and neck pain, headaches, “computer shoulders”, and other musculoskeletal complaints.

In addition to conventional chiropractic manipulation, Dr Palter also does several specialized techniques.  “NAET” (Nambudupad’s Allergy Elimination Technique) is a technique for treating all types of allergies, and allergy-related problems such as asthma, ADD/ADHD, and chemical sensitivities.  “JMT” (Jeffe Mellor Technique) is a closely related technique for the treatment of auto-immune disorders, including arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue, and fibromyalgia. Both NAET and JMT are safe, effective, and drug free approaches that usually enable patients to get off symptom suppressing medications.

Dr. Palter graduated from the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic in 1999 and she practices in Muskegon MI

Dr Palter treated me (preventively) for autoimmune issues. I’d had several episodes with iritis and since her treatment 4 years ago have not had a reoccurrence. Very pleased. Highly recommend!

What is NAET and JMT

Dr. Linda has incorporated several closely related techniques into a safe, effective, drug-free, approach for the treatment of allergies, auto-immune disorders, and sensitivity-related problems. If you are unfamiliar with NAET (Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique) or JMT (Jaffe-Mellor Technique) this page will help answer any questions you may have.

Q: Just what does NAET and JMT involve?

A: These techniques, developed by a chiropractor and acupuncturist, incorporate principles from both of these fields.  Accupuncture is the science of how energy flows into the body – you might say it’s bio-physics. Energy travels along specific  pathways called “meridians”. When you are allergic to something, the allergen disrupts normal energy flow in the meridians.  Treatment involves stimulating both meridians and spinal nerves, to restore the normal flow of energy in the body, while you hold a sample of the allergen.  This reprograms the nervous system’s response to the allergen.  It teaches the body “this is harmless – you can be fine when you are exposed to this”. It generally takes one treatment to eliminate an allergic response to an allergen.

Auto-immune illnesses occur when the body erroneously attacks itself.  This is similar to erroneously fighting off a harmless substance (allergen) and it responds similarly to this treatment.

Q: Does this mean I have to get acupuncture needles stuck into me?

A: NAET and JMT can be done with needles, but Dr. Palter is a chiropractor not an acupuncturist. Instead of needles, she will use a laser to stimulate the acupuncture meridians. The laser only penetrates a small fraction of an inch below the skin.  It feels just as a finger or a pencil is being rubbed along your back.

Q: What disorders respond to this type of treatment?

A: Most allergies clear up with this protocol. Many common disorders, such as migraines, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, asthma, etc. are related to multiple allergies. Most patients with these complaints are able to resolve most to all of their symptoms.   ADD/ADHD often responds well. Autism and related syndromes, neurological problems, and thyroid disorders sometimes show improvement.

Q:  How many treatments are we talking about?

A:  Of course that depends on the complaint! Most patients begin to show improvement after 3 or 4 treatments.  For allergies 12-16 treatments may be all you need. For more difficult problems, it may be twice that many.  Most patients find the improvements they make hold well over time.

Q:  Are there reactions to the treatment?

A:  Not usually, but depending on the health of your immune system. there may be.  If you do experience a reaction (fatigue, any worsening of your symptoms), you can expect it to clear up within 24 hours, and to lessen with subsequent treatments, as your body becomes more balanced.

Q:  It sounds rather like hocus-pocus!

A:  Because western medicine is so specialized in biochemistry (drugs), when we start to talk about biophysics it sounds strange and unfamiliar – certainly not medically scientific! But that is only because of what we are used to. If I asked you (or for that matter, many doctors) to explain the exact mechanism by which the drugs you take work, you would not have the answer, but you are comfortable taking the drugs anyway. The mechanism of energy flow is also a sound, well-tested approach to healing.  It offers a safer, less invasive, way to correct dysfunction.  The only “weird” part is that it is an approach less commonly used her in the west.  But with no dangerous side effects, none of the risks associated with drugs and surgery, and great results. It’s worth a try!
